Unspiral keeps your mental-health content on your device. There is no account, cloud AI is off until you turn it on, and analytics are opt-in.

Does Unspiral read my journal entries?
No.Saved resets, journal entries, debriefs, care sessions, preferences and reminder settings are stored in the app’s local container on your device. Unspiral has no account system and keeps no server-side copy of your entries.
Do I need an account to use Unspiral?
No. Unspiral requires no account, no email address and no sign-in. There is nothing to register and no profile to delete.
Is my data sent to the cloud?
Not unless you turn on Private Cloud AI in Settings, which is off by default. While it is off, Unspiral generates plans using on-device processing or its built-in offline templates, and no text leaves your phone.
What happens when I enable Private Cloud AI?
The specific text you submit is sent over HTTPS to an Unspiral-operated Cloudflare proxy and forwarded to our contracted AI provider solely to generate the response you asked for. The proxy is designed not to persist request text or responses, and cloud text is not used for Unspiral analytics.
Provider-side retention is governed by the data-processing terms configured for the production account. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning Private Cloud AI off.
Does Unspiral use my data to train AI models?
No. Cloud requests are sent with provider-side storage disabled, and the production account is configured under no-training and zero-retention terms.
Does Unspiral record my voice?
No.Voice input uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition and is offered only when on-device recognition is available. Unspiral never receives or stores your audio. Apple Intelligence processing likewise stays on the device where it is supported.
What analytics does Unspiral collect?
Anonymous product analytics and crash diagnostics are off by defaultand opt-in under Settings › Privacy. If you enable “Share anonymous usage,” Unspiral sends event names, coarse usage properties and app stack traces to PostHog EU.
Journal text, thought dumps, transcripts, names and debrief notes are excluded. Session replay and crash breadcrumbs are disabled. Crash capture follows your saved choice the next time the app starts.
How do I delete my Unspiral data?
Open Settings and use Delete All Local Data. Local content remains until you delete it or remove the app; deleting the app also removes its local container, subject to your own device backups. You can export eligible data from Settings first.
Analytics and purchase records follow the retention settings of the configured PostHog and RevenueCat accounts. Requests concerning externally processed data can be made at privacy@unspiral.app.
Is Unspiral therapy or medical care?
No. Unspiral is a private calming and thought-organization tool. It is not medical care, therapy, diagnosis, treatment or emergency support. If you feel unsafe or may harm yourself, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
